Commercial Director – Premium Irish Whiskey Distillery – UK / Ireland – Up to 100,000 (OTE 120,000)

My client is a renowned and prestigious whiskey distillery located in the heart of Ireland. Their commitment to tradition, quality, and innovation has allowed them to thrive in a competitive industry. As they continue to expand their presence, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Director to lead their sales team and drive growth.

The Commercial Director will be instrumental in business growth, with the initial plan being across the international market. This role will require travel to Ireland at least once per month with global travel for the brand.

The Commercial Director responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue and distribution targets for the distillery.
  2. Global expansion of the brand involving operating with a vast amount of international contacts.
  3. Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing sales team, including sales managers and representatives, to drive sales and brand awareness.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key accounts, ensuring the availability of our products.
  5. Collaborate with the marketing team to create and execute marketing plans that align with sales objectives.
  6. Identify and prioritize new market opportunities, both domestically and internationally, and create market entry strategies.
  7. Monitor and analyze market trends and consumer preferences, making recommendations for product development and pricing.
  8. Manage the sales budget and resources efficiently, ensuring a positive return on investment.
  9. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards for alcohol sales.

The ideal Commercial Director Candidate:

  1. Previous experience working in a similar role as Commercial or Sales Director in a spirit company or distributor.
  2. Strong black book and network of international contacts for spirit distribution.
  3. Proven track record in sales strategies, team management, and results.
  4. Experience bringing new products to market, along with negotiations and contracts.
  5. Passion for the drinks industry and continually up to date on news and trends.
  6. Ambitious and driven in all areas of sales and client development.
  7. Strong communication skills – able to work in a team or independently.
