Senior Architect Colchester GBP50,000/GBP60,000

Penguin is proud to be working with a fast: growing multidisciplinary planning, design and construction consultancy on an exciting opportunity for a Senior Architect to join their expanding Design team in Colchester.

The consultancy works closely with residential and mixed: use developers across the UK, supporting projects from site acquisition and feasibility through planning and technical delivery.

They have a strong focus on commercially viable, policy: led design and are continuing to grow their in: house architectural capability.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Architect to take ownership of projects and play a key role in the delivery of residential and mixed: use schemes.

  • You'll Have The Opportunity To
  • Lead projects through RIBA Stages 0:3, from feasibility and concept design through to planning submission.
  • Develop site layouts, housing mix strategies and masterplans.
  • Work closely with planning teams to ensure designs are policy: compliant and commercially viable.
  • Liaise with developers, land agents, consultants and local authorities.
  • Lead and mentor junior members of the design team.
  • Produce and coordinate high: quality planning: stage drawings.
  • Balance creativity, planning policy, commercial requirements and buildability.
  • Take ownership of projects and contribute to the continued growth of the wider design team.

About You

  • ARB registration / Part III qualification with significant post: qualification experience.
  • Strong experience working on residential and/or mixed: use developments.
  • Proven experience taking projects through RIBA Stages 0:3.
  • Experience working with housing developers, housebuilders or land agents.
  • A strong understanding of UK planning policy and the residential development process.
  • Excellent design and technical knowledge.
  • Strong proficiency in Auto CAD, Sketch Up and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to lead projects and mentor more junior designers.
  • A commercially aware and proactive approach to design.
