We are partnering with a fast‑growing, multi‑site food business to hire a Technical and Quality Manager or Senior Consultant to lead food safety, product consistency, and quality standards across a scaling operation. This is a high‑impact role reporting directly to the Managing Director, offering the opportunity to shape, build, and elevate technical and quality systems in a dynamic growth environment. The role is well‑suited to both hands‑on leaders and more experienced consultants looking to drive change and implement best‑in‑class standards.
The Role
- Quality, Standards and Consistency
- Own and elevate product consistency across all locations (taste, presentation, portioning)
- Define and implement robust quality standards, specifications, and controls
- Lead audits, tastings, and site reviews to continuously improve output
- Ensure equipment calibration and operational best practice across sites
- Batch Recipes and Central Production
- Develop and standardise scalable batch recipes for multi‑site execution
- Ensure recipes are commercially viable, efficient, and production‑ready
- Optimise yields, processes, and shelf life in a high‑volume environment
- Implement strong documentation, version control, and communication processes
- Food Safety and Compliance
- Lead and evolve HACCP systems across all locations
- Ensure full compliance with UK food safety and regulatory requirements
- Own allergen, nutritional, and ingredient data integrity
- Oversee supplier approval, specifications, and traceability frameworks
- Lead internal and external audits (e.g. SALSA, EHO)
- Manage incidents end‑to‑end, including complaints, investigations, and recalls
- Product Development (Technical Leadership)
- Partner with operational teams to ensure products are scalable and launch‑ready
- Support ingredient sourcing aligned with quality, cost, and supply continuity
- Define specifications and contribute to supplier validation and onboarding
What We’re Looking For
- Experience
- Proven background in multi‑site food operations, central production or consultancy
- Strong experience developing and scaling batch recipes in high‑volume environments
- Deep knowledge of food safety, HACCP, allergens, and UK regulatory frameworks
- Track record of implementing or improving technical and quality systems
- For senior candidates: experience leading programmes, advising leadership teams, or operating in a consultancy/interim capacity
- Skills
- Strong commercial and operational awareness
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
- Structured, analytical approach to problem‑solving and process improvement
