- Quantity Surveyor : Structural Steelwork

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of structural steelwork projects, ensuring costs are effectively controlled, profitability is maintained, and projects are delivered to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with a background in structural steel, steel fabrication, construction or a related sector to take ownership of projects and work closely with clients, site teams, engineers and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Measure and value works throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Manage variations, change orders and commercial claims.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets and cash flow.
- Procure subcontractors, suppliers and materials where required.
- Negotiate contracts, variations and commercial agreements.
- Liaise closely with clients, project managers, engineers and site teams.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Ensure projects remain commercially viable and are delivered within budget.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, structural steel or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem: solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship: building abilities.
- Good commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and profitability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a project team.
