Location: Cardiff. Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading planning consultancy in their search for a Senior Planner to join their Cardiff office. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to join a highly respected consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and strategic development projects throughout Wales and the wider UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery while benefiting from excellent career progression opportunities within a collaborative and supportive environment.
The Role
As a Senior Planner, you will take responsibility for managing planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission, negotiation, and determination. Working closely with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary consultant teams, you will provide strategic planning advice and support the successful delivery of a wide range of development projects. This role would suit a Senior Planner with approximately 3-5 years of planning experience who is looking to take the next step in their career within a dynamic consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing planning applications and appeals across a range of development sectors
- Preparing planning statements, appraisal reports, and supporting documentation
- Undertaking site assessments and development feasibility studies
- Providing planning advice to clients on development opportunities and planning strategy
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultees, and key stakeholders
- Managing client relationships and attending project meetings
- Supporting junior team members where appropriate
- Assisting with business development and networking activities
What We're Looking For
- RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- MRTPI qualified or actively working towards Chartership
- Approximately 3-5 years planning experience
- Experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or local authority environment
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and project management abilities
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
