Location: Manchester. Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a Town Planner to join a growing consultancy working across a strong portfolio of commercial, industrial, and strategic land projects. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of developments including greenfield sites, employment schemes, and five-year housing land supply work within a collaborative and professional environment.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission and determination. You will manage your own schemes while supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex developments, continuing to build your expertise as a Town Planner within a commercially focused consultancy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing planning applications and appeals
  • Preparing high-quality planning reports and supporting documentation
  • Working on commercial, industrial, and greenfield development projects
  • Assisting with five-year housing land supply and strategic planning work
  • Undertaking site appraisals and feasibility assessments
  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders
  • Attending client meetings, consultations, and site visits
  • Supporting wider project delivery and client management activities

Qualifications and Experience

  • RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
  • Ideally MRTPI qualified (Chartered)
  • Around 3 years planning experience within a consultancy environment
  • Experience working on commercial and industrial developments
  • Exposure to greenfield and strategic land projects desirable
  • Understanding of five-year housing land supply work advantageous
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and commercially aware approach
