You will be working directly with pupils who rely on British Sign Language as their primary alternative and augmentative form of communication. Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30
Contract: Full‑time, term‑time only

About the School: They are an outstanding, co‑educational special school that caters to pupils aged 4 to 11 with a wide range of learning difficulties. These include severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties, as well as complex medical needs and autism. They pride themselves on a high‑quality, relevant, and visually rich curriculum. Housed in a modern, purpose‑built facility with excellent high‑tech resources, they provide a calm, supportive, and stimulating environment where every child's achievements are celebrated.
Skills Required and Responsibilities:
- Utilise your BSL skills to interpret lessons, facilitate communication between pupils and staff, and support language development.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lesson plans, adapting materials to suit the visual and communication needs of the pupils.
- Provide emotional and behavioural support, helping to build pupils' confidence and independence.
- Work closely with teachers, speech and language therapists, and parents to review and support individual education plans (IEPs).
Mandatory Requirements:
- Proven experience or proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is mandatory.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service, or be completely willing to process a new one through Randstad.
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available for this role).
- Ability to provide professional references covering the last two years.
