We are working with an engineering team seeking an FPGA / Digital Systems Engineer for a 3-5 month outside IR35 contract, based in Bristol (hybrid).

What you’ll do:

  • Design and implement FPGA systems for high-speed sensing and control (MEMS, photonics, ADC/DACs)
  • Build and stabilise real-time control loops (PLLs, AGC, feedback systems, demodulation)
  • Translate control theory and signal processing into robust RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog)
  • Manage timing, latency, jitter, noise, and numerical stability
  • Develop Python-based verification and automation tooling
  • Own verification using structured testbenches, assertions, and automated testing
  • Support lab bring-up and hardware debugging

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong FPGA experience on real hardware
  • Background in control theory or signal processing
  • Experience with feedback systems (e.g. PLLs, control loops)
  • Comfortable working across digital, analog, and physical domains
  • Strong verification discipline (not just waveform debugging)
