We’re looking for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join our Talking Therapies team at HMP The Mount on a full‑time basis (35 hours per week). This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals experiencing low to moderate mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression, within a structured, recovery‑focused environment. Working within a Talking Therapies service, you’ll deliver evidence‑based, low‑intensity psychological interventions (Step 2) designed to help people make meaningful progress in their mental health. You’ll work 1:1 and in group settings, supporting individuals to develop practical coping strategies and move forward with confidence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assessing suitability for low‑intensity psychological interventions
  • Delivering Step 2 Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression
  • Providing 1:1 support and facilitating therapeutic groups
  • Managing a structured caseload with appropriate prioritisation and care planning
  • Working collaboratively with prison and partner agencies in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Participating in clinical supervision and case management
  • Maintaining accurate, high‑quality clinical records and risk assessments

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified or trainee PWP with a recognised PWP qualification (or working towards it)
  • Strong understanding of low‑intensity CBT‑based interventions
  • Experience working within Talking Therapies / IAPT frameworks
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work within structured clinical pathways
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary working
  • Confidence in risk assessment and safe practice within a secure setting
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice

This is a role where structure meets purpose. Every day, you’ll be working with people who may feel stuck or overwhelmed, helping them take practical, manageable steps towards change. Within a secure setting, your support can be a steady point of connection, helping individuals build insight, confidence, and coping strategies they can carry beyond the service. If you’re motivated by meaningful clinical work, enjoy working as part of a supportive team, and want to make a tangible difference in people’s mental health journeys, this role offers a unique and impactful opportunity.
