Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time

We are looking for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join our Talking Therapies team at HMP The Mount on a full-time basis (35 hours per week). This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals experiencing low to moderate mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression, within a structured, recovery-focused environment.

Working within a Talking Therapies service, you will deliver evidence-based, low-intensity psychological interventions (Step 2) designed to help people make meaningful progress in their mental health. You will work 1:1 and in group settings, supporting individuals to develop practical coping strategies and move forward with confidence.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assessing suitability for low-intensity psychological interventions
  • Delivering Step 2 Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression
  • Providing 1:1 support and facilitating therapeutic groups
  • Managing a structured caseload with appropriate prioritisation and care planning
  • Working collaboratively with prison and partner agencies in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Participating in clinical supervision and case management
  • Maintaining accurate, high-quality clinical records and risk assessments

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified or trainee PWP with a recognised PWP qualification (or working towards it)
  • Strong understanding of low-intensity CBT-based interventions
  • Experience working within Talking Therapies / IAPT frameworks
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work within structured clinical pathways
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary working
  • Confidence in risk assessment and safe practice within a secure setting
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice

This is a role where structure meets purpose. Every day, you will be working with people who may feel stuck or overwhelmed, helping them take practical, manageable steps towards change. Within a secure setting, your support can be a steady point of connection, helping individuals build insight, confidence, and coping strategies they can carry beyond the service.

If you are motivated by meaningful clinical work, enjoy working as part of a supportive team, and want to make a tangible difference in people's mental health journeys, this role offers a unique and impactful opportunity.
