Overview

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for an Associate Planning Consultant to join their growing Birmingham team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure and development projects across a range of sectors, including sustainable infrastructure, Net Zero, biodiversity, digital transformation, and urban regeneration. You will join a collaborative environment where diverse expertise is valued, working with clients across government, local authorities, combined authorities, private developers, and international funding institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as planning lead on projects across multiple markets and sectors
  • Supporting bid preparation, tender submissions, and framework responses
  • Leading multi-disciplinary projects, taking responsibility for project management and delivery

About You

  • A relevant planning degree, with RTPI membership desirable
  • Experience managing multiple assignments under tight deadlines, delivering outputs on time and within budget
  • Knowledge and experience of the Environmental Impact Assessment process
  • Experience in strategic planning and planning policy
  • Understanding of TCPA, DCO, TWAO, or equivalent applications
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and contribute confidently across a range of projects and geographies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain and discuss planning issues clearly
  • Flexibility knowledge to a variety of planning-related tasks
  • Experience in developing client relationships and contributing to business development
