About The Role
As Air Freight Import Clerk, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing import air freight shipments from arrival through to final delivery, ensuring shipments are processed accurately, compliantly, and within agreed customer and operational requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Arrange and process import air freight shipments from arrival through to final delivery.
- Create and manage import files within operational systems.
- Ensure all shipment documentation is accurate and completed on time, including MAWB/HAWB and Import customs documentation.
- Liaise with customers, airlines, handling agents, hauliers, overseas offices, and internal departments.
- Arrange customs clearances and ensure all customs entries are completed accurately.
- Coordinate deliveries and transport requirements.
- Ensure customs compliance and import security requirements are met.
- Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers.
- Resolve operational issues, delays, or service failures quickly and professionally.
- Ensure milestones and shipment updates are entered correctly within operational systems.
- Support timely and accurate billing by ensuring buy and sell rates are entered correctly.
- Maintain KPI and service level performance standards.
- Follow company SOPs, compliance procedures, and security regulations.
- Support team members during peak periods and holiday cover.
What You Need
- Previous experience within air freight imports or freight forwarding is essential.
- Strong knowledge of import customs procedures and customs entries is essential.
- Experience completing customs entries using CDS.
- Good understanding of airline procedures and cargo handling.
- Experience using freight forwarding systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be a strong team player with a positive and flexible attitude.
