Library Aides provide clerical and library support to building staff and maintain school records. This position will also assist in monitoring student grades and oversee students who are taking online classes while sitting in the library. They manage library media center resources and ensure students and faculty have access to those resources. They are responsible for the circulation of library books, media, and materials, as well as cataloging new items into the library software inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor circulation and check out books and tech resources
- Provide support to teachers and students to access district resources
- Greet library visitors
- Oversee students taking online classes in the library
- Assist with the middle school PBS program and help monitor student grades
Qualifications
Education
- High school graduate
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations are not required
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Keyboarding skills are required
Skills and Abilities
Language
- Read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals
- Write simple and complex reports and correspondence
- Speak with members of the public, students and other staff members
Computation
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages
Reasoning
- Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Solve problems when such problems have a variety of concrete variables
Technology
- Have strong computer skills including word processing, and working with spreadsheets and databases
- Be able to understand and submit online reports to state and federal agencies

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position an employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use fingers and controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach and bend and lift and carry up to ten pounds. Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required.
Attendance
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Conditions and Environment
The work environment requires the management of students and regular assistance to staff members. Some parts of the school environment can be loud. This position is generally indoors in a temperature regulated environment. Business-casual dress is a minimum requirement.
