We're TIP Group - we've kept trailers, tankers, and fleets moving safely since 1968, and we're a certified Great Place to Work®. Our Knottingley workshop team is growing, and we're looking for a skilled Mobile Trailer Mechanic / Trailer Technician to join us. We invest in our people, back our technicians with proper tools and training, and genuinely care about the team we build. It's how we roll.
The Role
You'll be carrying out inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on HGV trailers, keeping our customers' fleets road-ready and safe. We work as a close-knit team, hands-on, supportive, and quick to back each other up when something needs fixing.
What you'll be doing:
- Routine inspections, servicing, and PMI checks on HGV trailers
- Diagnosing and repairing faults across braking, suspension, electrical, and bodywork systems
- Keeping maintenance and repair work to DVSA/VOSA compliance standards
- Recording work accurately so the fleet's history stays on top of things
- Working closely with the wider team to keep vehicles moving
What We're Looking For
We hire mechanical experience over box-ticking — trailer mechanics, HGV technicians, diesel mechanics, fitters, and plant or heavy vehicle engineers are all a great fit.
- Experience as a trailer mechanic, HGV mechanic, fitter, or in a similar heavy vehicle role
- IRTEC certification desirable (or working towards)
- Heavy Vehicle Level 3 qualification, or equivalent time-served experience
- A proactive, safety-first mindset and pride in a job done properly
Location: Based at our TIP Stoke workshop, Staffordshire.
