You’ll join TIP and from day one spend 9 months training to become a Certified Trailer Mechanic. The Academy combines classroom learning, online modules, and plenty of practical experience in the workshop — all supported by an experienced mentor who works alongside you every step of the way. By the end of the programme, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and qualifications to work independently as a Trailer mechanic and continue developing your career with us.
What will you be doing in the Academy? During the 9‑month programme, you’ll build your skills step by step. This includes:
- Learning the basics of trailer mechanics, safety standards, tools, and workshop procedures
- Taking part in classroom sessions and online learning to understand how trailers are built and how systems work
- Gaining hands‑on experience in the workshop, helping to service, inspect, and repair trailers
- Working closely with an experienced mentor who will coach you, answer questions, and share practical tips
- Gradually taking on more responsibility as your confidence and skills grow
What happens after the Academy? Once you successfully complete the Academy, you’ll:
- Qualify as a Certified TIP Trailer Mechanic
- Move into a permanent mechanic role within TIP
- Work independently in the workshop, carrying out inspections, servicing, and repairs
- Continue developing your skills through on‑the‑job experience, training, and career progression opportunities
