Job Description

As a member of the System Administration team, you are responsible for applying skills and exercising knowledge to perform specified support functions. You will support critical applications and ensure the stability of services by performing dedicated maintenance activities. You engage in automation activities, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation. Knowledge of production support process including incident/change/problem management, call triaging, and critical issue resolution procedures.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Operations and Production Support of container technologies and orchestration platforms (Docker UCP, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.)
  • OpenShift/Docker/Kubernetes deployment, configuration, scaling and management of containerized applications.
  • Contribute to automation and self‑service patterns (templates, scripts, IaC modules) that enable rapid, standardized environment creation for experimentation and production GenAI workloads.
  • Openshift Enterprise Support.
  • Working with tools surrounding the Kubernetes ecosystem such as helm, kubeadm, Sysdig, Prometheus, Grafana, FluentD etc.
  • Working with configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible, terraform etc.)
  • Scripting and automation skills converting manual and maintenance functions into fully orchestrated automation.
  • Sharing technical and customer knowledge in a helpful and timely fashion.
  • Responsible for partnering with the Platform, Engineering and Delivery Teams to deliver seamless infrastructure support for all Visa business lines.
  • Security Remediation process (vulnerability assessment and patch management).
  • Contribute to standardized and document operational procedures.
  • Responsible for adherence of established ITIL practice such as Incident, Change, Problem and Release Management.

This is mostly an in-office position.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science / computer engineering, Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent scale).
  • Six months of Unix/Linux system administration/Containers experience preferred.
  • Scripting knowledge/experience (Python).
  • Knowledge in Cloud platforms preferred (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform etc.).
  • Knowledge in Configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible, terraform etc.).
  • Basic understanding of ITIL v4 processes such as Incident, Change, Problem and Release Management.
  • Good knowledge of networking concepts like TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
  • Good understanding of Software Engineering concepts and methodologies.
  • Perform root cause analysis and track defect resolution to completion.
  • Team player who can work independently with general supervision.
  • Work closely with application teams in ensuring best practices are followed and the infrastructure automation can be self-service.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor.
  • Ability to coordinate activities within cross-divisional and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written skills demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally.
  • Ability to understand and adopt processes, project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Be scheduled On-Call to support the infrastructure and our systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
