A nursery in Henley on Thames is looking for a Qualified Level 2/3 Practitioner to join their team. The position will be 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Shifts are worked between 07:30am and 6pm. Salaries start from minimum wage for Nursery Practitioners and Room Leaders from £25k. Please note there is room to negotiate for the right candidate based on experience/knowledge. A joining bonus is offered for full-time positions: all qualified practitioners receive £2500, unqualified £500 (subject to a successful probation of 6 months).

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, promoting a feeling of security and satisfaction amongst parents.
  • Caring for the all-round daily needs of the children to enhance their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development.
  • Contribute effectively to the team, maintaining a high level of communication throughout the nursery.

Main Tasks

  • Team Contribution
    • Work as an effective part of the Nursery team and maintain good morale, ensuring all Countryside Nursery standards are met.
    • Have a high level of awareness of company policies and procedures and ensure these are carried through in your everyday tasks.
    • Include and encourage student members of staff in their daily activities and development through leading by example.
  • Child and Parent Care
    • As a Key Carer, ensure parents have full satisfaction through appropriate information and feedback.
    • Communicate with children at their level during play and mealtimes.
    • Settle new starters, ensuring both children and parents feel comfortable and safe.
    • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and encourage it with the children.
    • Ensure children are tidy, happy, and ready for their parents to take home at the end of their session.
    • Provide daily updates to parents in the form of diary sheets or verbal communication.
    • Respect the wishes of parents regarding confidentiality of personal information.
    • Be open and welcoming to all parents and children, directing queries to the Room Leader or Manager/Deputy when required.
  • Administration and Planning
    • Foster social and educational stimulation through curriculum planning based on age and stages of development.
    • Keep developmental records for each child up to date and accurate, available for viewing by parents at any time.
    • Maintain routines within each area of the Nursery.
    • Ensure room registers and daily sign-in sheets are accurately completed.
    • Maintain a well-organised filing system ensuring information is easily accessible.
  • Nursery Communication
    • Attend and actively participate in regular room and staff meetings.
    • Maintain good communication with senior management on everyday occurrences within the establishment.
    • Follow company procedures for daily communications to and from parents.
    • Report all maintenance requirements to the manager for immediate attention.
    • Treat all matters concerning children, parents, staff, and business of the Nursery as confidential.
  • Health and Safety
    • Implement all company health and safety procedures to ensure the well-being of children and staff.
    • Be aware of risk assessments to prevent accidents and act upon recommendations.
    • Maintain a high level of hygiene by cleaning and sterilising equipment.
    • Look after toys and equipment, ensuring they are stored safely and correctly.
    • Leave rooms clean and tidy at the end of each day.
    • Advise manager or deputy when toys and equipment need repairing or replacing.
    • Participate in regular fire drills to ensure awareness of procedures.
    • Record accidents appropriately in accident books and relay information to the manager and parents.
    • Regularly check electrical appliances to ensure they are in good working order.
