About the Playgroup: The playgroup operates during term time, enriching young minds five days a week. With a focus on quality care and education, they prioritize safety and stimulation. Registered with The Care Inspectorate and a member of the Scottish Preschool Play Association, it adheres to high standards and partners with the City of Edinburgh Council.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead playroom operations, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
- Design and implement engaging educational programs tailored to children's developmental stages and interests.
- Manage and support a team of dedicated childcare professionals, fostering continuous learning and growth.
- Foster strong partnerships with parents, maintaining open communication and community engagement.
- Advocate for best practices in childcare, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure individual needs are met and support early intervention where necessary.
- Identify and organize relevant CPD opportunities for staff.
- Report to Chairperson and Management Committee.
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- BA Childhood Practice (completed or working towards it) / equivalent qualifications recognized by SSSC.
- Extensive experience in early years education.
- PVG Scheme Membership and SSSC registration.
- Profound knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence.
- Essential certifications: Child Protection Level 4 and Paediatric First Aid.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and nurture teams.
- Training and experience supporting children with additional needs.
- Exceptional communication skills.
