Vocational Assessor – Industrial Cleaning and Waste Management

HMP Leyhill, Gloucester

£25k plus additional mileage expenses beyond your normal daily commute will be paid - 34 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm.

You will need experience of delivering a variety of Vocational Qualifications.

We’re looking for a passionate Vocational Assessor specialising in Industrial Cleaning and Waste Management. You’ll work within a custodial setting, supporting learners to achieve meaningful qualifications and build brighter futures.

Key responsibilities of our Regional NVQ Assessors include:

  • Travel and Workplace Assessments: Assessing learners in different workplaces within the assigned region.
  • Guidance and Support: Providing feedback, guidance, and support to learners as they work towards their NVQ qualifications.
  • Evidence Collection: Gathering evidence of a learner’s skills and knowledge to demonstrate their competence.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Evaluating learners’ performance against NVQ standards and providing constructive feedback.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of learner progress and assessment results.

In addition to the core responsibilities, Regional NVQ Assessors may also be involved in:

  • Planning and delivering training sessions.
  • Providing training to learners to help them develop the skills needed for their NVQ.
  • Participating in quality assurance activities.
  • Ensuring that assessments are conducted according to Awarding Organisation standards.
  • Collaborating with Prison Managers and employers.

You will need to possess:

  • An Assessors Award or equivalent for example CAVA.
  • Recent Assessing experience (within the last six months).

As a Vocational Assessor, you’ll guide and assess learners through various basic level certifications, sharing your knowledge and preparing them for work in the sector. Your support helps learners build confidence and open doors to future employment, making a tangible difference in their lives and communities. Cohorts are between 10 and 12 learners.
