A respected and forward-thinking UK advisory and accountancy group is looking for an experienced Private Client Tax Senior to join its growing team in either the City of London or St Albans. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a varied personal tax portfolio while working closely with Managers, Directors and Partners on a blend of compliance and advisory work. You’ll be the primary point of contact for your clients, building trusted relationships and delivering clear, high-quality tax solutions for high-net-worth individuals, owner-managed businesses and partnerships.

The role

You will manage a broad private client portfolio and handle all aspects of routine personal tax compliance, while supporting on a wide range of advisory matters. The role offers significant client contact, technical variety and exposure to senior specialists within the team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a mixed private client portfolio and overseeing routine personal tax compliance
  • Acting as the primary contact for clients and attending client meetings
  • Advising individuals with earned, investment and property income
  • Working with owner-managed businesses, partnerships and HNWIs
  • Handling a range of capital gains tax matters
  • Assisting with and delivering ad-hoc private client advisory projects
  • Liaising with colleagues across the wider firm on client matters
  • Proposing fees, raising bills and monitoring WIP and recoverability

About you

You’re a proactive, technically confident tax professional with strong personal tax knowledge and experience managing a private client portfolio. We’re looking for someone with:

  • ATT and/or CTA qualification (or actively studying towards CTA)
  • Previous experience managing personal tax portfolios
  • Strong knowledge of Self-Assessment and tax computations
  • Experience advising on EIS, VCT and SEIS investment reliefs
  • Knowledge of residence and domicile rules (preferred)
  • Confidence researching tax legislation and HMRC guidance
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters effectively
