Timken Belts, located in Springfield, MO, is seeking a Quality Engineer.
The Plant Quality Manager is responsible for driving product quality excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement at our Springfield belts manufacturing facility. This role serves as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, implements robust quality management systems, and ensures compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
– Customer Quality Management:
– Act as the primary contact for customers on quality-related issues, resolving concerns within company parameters.
– Review customer complaints to identify areas for improvement and prevent recurrence.
– Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management.
– Quality System:
– Develop and implement inspection, sampling, quality plans, flow diagrams, control plans, and in-process controls to meet customer requirements.
– Maintain documented quality systems compliant with ISO 9001.
– Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and specifications.
– Process/Product Improvement and Continuous Improvement (CI):
– Analyze non-conformance reports and recommend process or product improvements.
– Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and FMEA tools to enhance operational efficiency and reduce defects.
– Lead quality and CI training programs for plant employees.
– Cross-Functional Collaboration:
– Liaise between manufacturing, sales, and technical departments to establish quality standards.
– Collaborate with suppliers on incoming material quality and issue resolution.
– Supplier Quality Management:
– Monitor supplier performance and quality of incoming materials.
– Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive improvements.
– Team Leadership & Development:
– Lead and develop the quality team, providing training and feedback.
– Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
– Ensure employees have the skills to maintain and improve quality standards.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, 5–7 years of quality management experience in manufacturing, proficiency in quality tools, and strong leadership skills. Experience with rubber manufacturing processes is a plus.
The role requires the ability to interpret technical documents, perform mathematical and statistical analysis, and solve problems involving multiple variables. Physical demands include standing, sitting, manual dexterity, lifting, and working in a noisy, potentially hazardous environment with required PPE.
The work environment involves exposure to moving machinery, fumes, outdoor conditions, and noise. PPE such as safety eyewear, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes are mandatory.
