About the role
We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Senior Conference Producer to research, manage and deliver high-impact event programmes for the global higher education community, including THE’s flagship World Academic Summit. The ideal candidate will be passionate about global affairs and higher education and be confident and prepared to proactively foster and build relationships with stakeholders from across the sector and at all levels. You must have proven and demonstrable experience of successfully producing commercial B2B events and be willing to think creatively to align event content with commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme research and development
- Conduct phone and desk research with a variety of stakeholders to create high-quality event programmes that include compelling themes and topics
- Work in partnership with external partners to shape programmes that meet client objectives
- Collaborate with internal colleagues and departments to identify opportunities on event programmes that support the wider business portfolio
- Collaborate with the commercial teams to support the engagement of potential partnerships
- Lead and project manage regular event team meetings with internal and external colleagues
- Recruit senior level, high-quality speakers
- Ensure event programmes are compelling and thoughtful to attract speakers and delegates to attend
- Draft ‘best practice’ speaker briefs on the event themes and discussions
- Verify speaker submitted presentations prior to each event and ensure they are appropriate
- Ensure that all speakers involved in THE’s events portfolio have a positive experience through high-quality speaker liaison
- On-site co-ordination of speakers and other key stakeholders, stage management and liaison with the AV team to ensure a seamless production
- Write compelling programme abstracts and website copy to help market our events
- Clarify the event value proposition for internal teams and external stakeholders
- Contribute to the production of effective marketing collateral
- Project manage regular team meetings with internal and external stakeholders
Person Specification
- Demonstrable and proven experience successfully producing B2B events, ideally within the education sector
- Confident and talented self-starter who can hit the ground running
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with senior leaders from government, NGOs, academia and industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including spelling, grammar and proofreading, with the ability to tailor style and approach to suit a variety of global audiences
- Confident presenting creative proposals and building trusted client partnerships
- Commercially astute with an entrepreneurial outlook to work on high-revenue commercial events
- Ability to work to agreed deadlines and under pressure
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage and prioritise workload
- MS Office essential – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Flexibility to travel overseas to events
- Ideally educated to a degree level
