DATA QUALITY ASSISTANT — FULLY REMOTE (21 hours per week) — DURATION: October 2025-June 2026 — SALARY: £12.21 p/h (National Living Wage)

THE Consultancy provides strategic, data-driven guidance to universities, governments and corporate entities with an interest in higher education around the world. Building on our vast sector expertise and long history, we support our partners to build effective and sustainable strategies aligned to their unique mission. Understanding that all organisations are unique, we combine proprietary and primary data ‒ including data underpinning THE’s suite of rankings, bibliometric data, and bespoke surveys and other data collection ‒ to design customised solutions to clients’ needs.

About the Role

To support the creation and delivery of quality databases of UK university courses and their tuition fees and entry requirements, alongside a separate database of scholarships and bursaries.

Key tasks include:

  • Quality control checks on individual institution files created by data collectors – ensuring the accurate and consistent recording of data in Microsoft Excel, according to the staff guide and training provided.
  • Discussing data entries which are unclear/incorrect with the product manager, so that constructive feedback and guidance can be provided to data collectors and a consistent approach to recording the data is maintained.
  • Accessing individual university websites to assess whether 2026/27 course tuition fees have been published.
  • Accurately recording progress using the appropriate tools/tracking documents.
  • Supporting the product manager in the collation of the datasets – this could involve copy pasting data, checks on formatting, completing missing information.
  • Additional ad hoc tasks relevant to the role, e.g. checking Mission Group membership, collecting league table rank data.

About you

  • Excellent communication skills and confident in raising queries.
  • Familiarity with UK higher education system.
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Able to work effectively autonomously and to follow guidelines/instructions closely
  • Detail oriented; ability to check data thoroughly showing good attention to detail and ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
