Timeplan is currently working with a large SEN school in South West London, who are recruiting several child support workers to start ASAP. All positions are full-time long-term opportunities.
The school is an Alternative Schooling Provision which caters for young adults aged 10-19 with various SEN including Mental Health, Complex Needs and Autism.
Your role will involve supporting the class teacher, Support Staff and multi-agency teams to devise learning and care plans and to encourage the child/young person to reach their full potential. You will be required to set clear boundaries and manage triggers of challenging behaviour whilst supporting the child academically, emotionally and socially. Children at this school have multiple complex and sensory needs. Support workers looking to be trained as Teaching Assistants/Cover supervisors are encouraged to apply. Psychology graduates or graduates looking to work with SEN are also encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate:
- Experience working with Challenging Behaviour within an Education, Residential or Support Setting
- Enhanced DBS registered to the update service (we can provide you with details on how to start a new application)
- Previous support work within a school or other child-related experience
- One to one and small group work
- Professional manner
- Enthusiasm and friendly approach
