TimePlan Education is seeking compassionate and motivated SEN Support Workers to join a specialist residential service in Uffculme, supporting profoundly deaf young people to live fulfilling, independent lives.
We provide a temp-to-perm opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in a safe and nurturing environment, offering support in daily routines, personal development and social engagement.
About the Role
As an SEN Support Worker you will provide practical and emotional support to young people with complex communication needs, helping them build confidence and independence while promoting their wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Support young people with daily living tasks and routines.
- Encourage independence and develop life skills.
- Provide emotional reassurance and build trusting relationships.
- Assist with leisure activities, education, and community participation.
- Support attendance at Deaf community events and activities.
- Work closely with colleagues and other professionals to deliver person‑centred care.
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and welcoming residential environment.
Specialist Communication
The residents are profoundly deaf and primarily communicate using British Sign Language (BSL), AAC devices and visual methods. Prior BSL experience is welcome but not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.
The facility is equipped with technology to support residents, including adapted fire alarms, vibration alert equipment, communication tech and visual support systems.
