We are currently seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to work in both SEN and mainstream schools in Southampton and across Hampshire. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, Behavioural and Social, Emotional and Mental Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to help students improve their behaviour and self-regulation.
  • Assist teachers and staff in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to create and implement individual behaviour plans.
  • Document and track student progress.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development to enhance your skills.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people with SEN and managing challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of students with SEN.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or willing to apply.
