We are recruiting a Behaviour and Pastoral Teaching Assistant to work with KS3 and KS4 pupils who need extra support to engage positively in school. This role is not a general classroom helper position and requires strong behaviour experience.
Requirements (must-have)
- Proven experience working with secondary-age pupils (11-16) in a UK school
- Background in behaviour support, pastoral work or inclusion
- Confident managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils
- Strong communication skills with teachers, parents and pastoral teams
Desirable
- Experience in an Inclusion Unit, Pastoral Team or PRU/alternative provision
- Training in Team Teach/positive handling (or similar)
Key duties
- Supporting identified pupils both in class and in withdrawal spaces
- Helping pupils re-engage with learning and follow school routines
- Working closely with the pastoral and safeguarding teams
- Logging behaviour incidents and contributing to support plans
