This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants a role where they can make a genuine difference to a young person's life.
What is SEMH?
Children with SEMH needs may experience difficulties with emotional regulation, anxiety, confidence, relationships, behaviour or engagement with education. For some pupils, previous experiences of school may have been challenging, and they need adults around them who are patient, consistent, understanding and able to build trust. Working in an SEMH setting isn't always easy – but it can be incredibly rewarding. Sometimes the biggest achievements aren't just academic. It might be helping a pupil stay in a lesson, manage their emotions, rebuild their confidence, develop positive relationships or simply begin to enjoy coming to school again. Those small wins can make a huge difference.
About the role:
- Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional SEN needs
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils engage positively with learning
- Supporting children with their emotional regulation and behaviour
- Building strong, positive and consistent relationships
- Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe and supportive environment
- Encouraging pupils to develop their confidence, independence and resilience
