Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? We’re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 2:1 support for a Year 10 pupil in a specialist SEMH secondary school setting.
The School
This is a small, well-structured school for around 60 pupils, aged 11–18, who require additional emotional and behavioural support to thrive in education. Each class has around 8 pupils, supported by a Teacher and a Teaching Assistant, with Behaviour Mentors available throughout the school to provide extra support and guidance.
The Role
- Provide tailored 2:1 support for a Year 10 pupil with SEMH needs.
- Work alongside another LSA to support him.
- Encourage engagement, focus, and positive behaviour within lessons.
- Support academic progress and emotional regulation.
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour and support strategies.
- Build strong, trusting relationships to promote self-esteem and resilience.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (essential).
- Confident managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain patient, positive, and empathetic.
