Do you have a genuine passion for the outdoors and a natural way of making people feel like they belong? If you can spot a great story, tell it with energy, and turn an audience into a community — we'd love to hear from you. TimeOutdoors is on a mission to build the UK's biggest community for people who want to get outdoors, be active and build a habit that makes them feel better all year round. We work with charities, event organisers and adventure providers including some of the biggest and most recognisable brands in the sector, helping them reach new audiences for their events, challenges and adventures. We're a close-knit team based in North Yorkshire, building something we're genuinely proud of. If you're passionate about the outdoors and want your work to connect thousands of people with activity that changes their lives, this is the team to join.
The Role
As Community & Content Manager, you'll be the voice of TimeOutdoors to our audience — building and nurturing a thriving community of active people, telling their stories, and turning casual visitors into loyal, engaged members. You’ll sit at the intersection of content, community and marketing — creating the kind of inspiring, authentic output that makes people want to get outdoors and do something. At the same time, you’ll work closely with the commercial team to convert community engagement into platform sign-ups and partner value. This role will directly transform our ability to grow. The right person won’t just manage content — they'll build an asset that makes everything else we do more effective.
What you’ll do
- Build and nurture the community
- Own our social media channels — Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and beyond — with a consistent, inspiring presence.
- Respond to, celebrate and amplify community activity — race reports, challenge completions, club spotlights, personal bests.
- Create and manage an email newsletter that keeps our audience informed, motivated and connected.
- Develop initiatives that grow our registered user base and deepen engagement with existing members.
- Tell great stories
- Seek out and produce compelling participant stories — written, visual and video — that bring the platform to life.
- Commission and edit content from the wider outdoor community, coaches, event organisers and athletes.
- Write event previews, race reviews, destination guides and activity inspiration that genuinely motivates people to get involved.
- Champion the TimeOutdoors voice.
- Drive B2C revenue growth
- Own the B2C lead nurture journey — from first visit to registered user to active platform participant.
- Work with the Founder to develop and execute campaigns that convert audience interest into sign-ups and bookings.
- Use data and audience insight to understand what content drives engagement and act on it.
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure advertiser and partner activity is showcased compellingly to the community.
- Support the B2B team
- Post regularly on LinkedIn to keep event organisers, charities and partners aware of our platform activity and audience growth.
- Produce social proof content — testimonials, stats, case studies — that strengthens the B2B sales proposition.
- Help develop content so it performs well and tells a great story for our partners.
Requirements
Who we're looking for
- A genuine passion for getting active outdoors — with the medals to prove it — and enough grit to know what it feels like to dig deep.
- Proven experience in community management, content creation or social media — ideally in sport, fitness, outdoor or lifestyle.
- A strong, versatile writer who can adapt tone and style across formats inc. short-form social, long-form editorial & email newsletters.
- Confident across social media platforms and email marketing tools.
- Organised, self‑motivated and comfortable managing your own workload across office and remote days.
- Data‑aware — you understand what the numbers are telling you and use them to improve.
- Based within commuting distance of our North Yorkshire office, and happy to be in the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
- Experience with SEO or content strategy.
- Basic video or photography skills — enough to produce authentic, on‑the‑ground content.
- Familiarity with CRM or email platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot or similar.
- Experience working with or within events, charity challenges or outdoor brands.
What we offer
- Competitive starting salary of up to £30,000 depending on experience.
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
- A team‑wide profit share scheme — because great results come from everyone.
- Subsidised entry fees for events on the platform.
- Monthly team lunches and quarterly away days.
- Free access to the TimeOutdoors platform — because we expect you to use it.
- Free hot drinks, fruit and parking.
- A collaborative, values‑driven team that's genuinely passionate about what we do.
How we work
We're a hybrid team that values face time. The energy and creativity that comes from working together in person is central to how we operate — especially while we're growing — so we ask everyone to be in the office a minimum of 2‑3 days per week. We're not a remote‑first business, and we're looking for someone who genuinely thrives in a team environment. Beyond the required office days, you'll have the flexibility to work remotely — and we trust you to manage your time and output wherever you are.
