The Role

  • Shape the school’s strategic vision in collaboration with the Director of Education.
  • Lead and inspire a team of teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across all subjects.
  • Foster a positive and structured school culture, ensuring pupils feel safe, valued, and supported.
  • Develop and implement effective school policies and processes.
  • Oversee school improvement plans, identifying and addressing barriers to success.
  • Ensure that pupils with SEMH needs and additional learning needs receive the support they need.
  • Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to create a holistic support network for each child.
  • Maintain compliance with Independent School Standards and safeguarding regulations.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) and a relevant degree.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience within a school setting.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
  • A proven track record of school improvement and staff development.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and build positive relationships.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and promoting the wellbeing of all students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for bettering the lives of children and young people who require help and educational support.
Desirable:
  • NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) or NPQSL (Senior Leadership).
  • Experience in specialist SEMH provisions or alternative education settings.
  • Knowledge of school finance and resource management.
  • SENCo qualification.
