About the role
We are seeking an experienced Overhead Linesman to support a refurbishment project on existing 132kV–400kV high voltage transmission lines across South England. The role focuses on the replacement of insulators and associated line hardware in accordance with National Grid standards and specifications. This position is suited to individuals with strong transmission experience who are comfortable working during line closures and isolations.
Key Responsibilities
- Replace insulators, including downlead insulators, spacers, downlead spacers, and associated accessories
- Work safely and efficiently during line closures and isolation
- Carry out inspections and assessments to identify defects and refurbishment requirements
- Ensure all work is completed in line with National Grid standards and health & safety regulations
- Collaborate with the project team to achieve programme targets
- Accurately record work completed and report progress to site management
Professional and Personal Attributes
- Qualified Overhead Linesman or equivalent transmission line experience
- Proven experience working on 132kV–400kV overhead transmission lines
- Strong background in insulator and line hardware replacement
- Good understanding of electrical safety rules and isolation procedures
- Ability to work at height and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong safety-first mindset and attention to detail
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable: Time-served apprenticeship, Level 3 Power Industry Overhead Linesperson, ECS card, ERSU certification
