Refugee Council - Hull & East Yorkshire

The volunteer will support the client by accompanying them to attend appointments or social activities, or to become familiar with key locations or public transport in their community. The aim of the role is to promote independence and integration in the local community, by helping them navigate their community and local area.

The volunteer will work mainly from the client’s local community. The volunteer may only work with a client once, or several times, depending on their needs. The role therefore will be varied, across different locations, days and times. The volunteer will work alone but with the support of the Volunteer Coordinator and client’s assigned Case Worker.

This role is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check. Repeat checks are initiated every two years. You may be a Volunteer Navigator on a regular basis or ad hoc, depending on your availability, and in locations that suit you.

All of our volunteers are trained and inducted, and benefits include access to our online learning Hub, a Refugee Council email and IT account, information on internal vacancies, support and development and team integration opportunities.
