Community Gardener/Handyman

Organisation: Hull CVS

Purpose of Role: As a Community Garden Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, developing, and protecting our community garden, ensuring it remains a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone.

Responsible To: Caretaker/Operations Team

Time Commitment: Flexible hours, ideally 2-6 hours per week.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Gardening experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Enjoy working as part of a team.
• Reasonably fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Training and Support:

• Initial induction provided for all new volunteers.
• Opportunities to attend relevant training and development events.
• Regular volunteer meetings to offer feedback, share ideas, and connect with other volunteers.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team to upkeep and develop the garden.
• Tasks include tidying up, dead-heading, weeding borders, pruning trees, shrubs, and plants.
• Maintain garden machinery and equipment.
