The Assembly Operative will be responsible for assembling mechanical and/or electro-mechanical components to engineering drawings and work instructions, ensuring products are built safely, accurately, and to required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble components and sub-assemblies using hand tools and basic power tools
- Follow engineering drawings, schematics, and written work instructions
- Carry out visual and basic functional checks to ensure product quality
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area at all times
- Report faults, defects, or shortages to the team leader or supervisor
- Work collaboratively with other operatives, engineers, and production staff
- Adhere to health & safety, quality, and company procedures
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in an assembly, manufacturing, or engineering environment
- Basic understanding of mechanical assembly processes
- Ability to read and follow instructions accurately
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
Desirable:
- Experience working from engineering drawings
- Knowledge of basic quality inspection processes
- Background in mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical assembly
