The Assembly Operative will be responsible for assembling mechanical and/or electro-mechanical components to engineering drawings and work instructions, ensuring products are built safely, accurately, and to required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble components and sub-assemblies using hand tools and basic power tools
  • Follow engineering drawings, schematics, and written work instructions
  • Carry out visual and basic functional checks to ensure product quality
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area at all times
  • Report faults, defects, or shortages to the team leader or supervisor
  • Work collaboratively with other operatives, engineers, and production staff
  • Adhere to health & safety, quality, and company procedures

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience in an assembly, manufacturing, or engineering environment
  • Basic understanding of mechanical assembly processes
  • Ability to read and follow instructions accurately
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Experience working from engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of basic quality inspection processes
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical assembly
