Associate Director / Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Manchester or Warrington Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + Benefits Type: Full-Time, Permanent Join a Growing Construction Consultancy Acting on Behalf of the Client Our client is a well-established SME construction consultancy providing Cost Management, Project Management and Design Consultancy services across the UK. Working exclusively on behalf of end-user clients rather than main contractors, they deliver commercially focused advice and project leadership across a diverse portfolio of industrial, logistics, commercial and mixed-use developments. With a team of approximately 50 professionals across the North West, including Quantity Surveyors, Building Surveyors, Architects and Interior Designers, they offer a collaborative environment where everyone contributes to project success. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint either a Senior Quantity Surveyor or an Associate Director to support their expanding client base and project portfolio. The Opportunity This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced consultancy-side Quantity Surveyor looking to join a growing business where they can play a key role in project delivery, client management and future growth. You will work across multiple projects simultaneously, supporting a range of logistics, industrial and commercial clients while providing expert commercial and cost management services from project inception through to completion. For Associate Director level candidates, there is a clear route to further leadership responsibility, including team development, client ownership and business growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities Senior Quantity Surveyor Deliver cost management services across multiple construction projects. Support pre-construction activities including procurement, tendering and cost planning. Manage project costs, valuations, variations and final accounts. Administer and manage JCT contracts. Provide commercial advice directly to client-side stakeholders. Work independently across 2-3 projects simultaneously. Assist with tender preparation and contractor selection. Support and mentor junior surveyors where appropriate. Build and maintain strong client relationships. Associate Director In addition to the above, you will: Lead cost planning and commercial strategy across key projects. Act as Employer's Agent on selected schemes. Take ownership of key client relationships and project accounts. Provide strategic commercial advice to clients and stakeholders. Lead procurement, tendering and contract administration activities. Manage project profitability, fee recovery and commercial performance. Mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors within the business. Contribute to business development activities and help expand the consultancy's client base. Work closely with senior leadership on business growth initiatives. Build a strong future project pipeline and identify new fee opportunities. What Success Looks Like Within Your First 6-12 Months Senior Quantity Surveyor Successfully manage a portfolio of projects independently. Deliver strong commercial and technical outcomes. Achieve excellent client satisfaction and fee recovery. Support junior team members and contribute to team performance. Identify opportunities for additional work within existing client accounts. Associate Director Take ownership of key client relationships. Generate and secure new and repeat business opportunities. Strengthen the consultancy's project pipeline. Improve profitability across accounts and projects. Establish a clear pathway towards Director-level responsibility. About You Essential Requirements Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline. Minimum 5 years' experience operating as a fully-fledged Quantity Surveyor. Consultancy-side experience preferred. Strong understanding of cost management, commercial management and reporting. Experience managing budgets and pre-construction activities. Excellent knowledge of JCT contracts. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Strong communication and client-facing skills. Experience working directly with end-user clients. Additional Requirements for Associate Director Level Extensive UK consultancy experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor or Associate Director level. Proven leadership and team management experience. Strong commercial and strategic planning ability. Employer's Agent experience desirable. Demonstrable track record of managing key client relationships.
