Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our business in a critical leadership position overseeing projects across the North of England. This is a fantastic opportunity for an operational leader who thrives in a structured, professional environment and has experience delivering projects within Tier 1 construction, building safety, remediation or specialist contracting sectors.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will play a key role in leading project delivery, managing operational performance, enhancing client relationships and driving programme success across multiple projects.

About the Role

As Operations Manager, you will take ownership of operational planning, resource management, programme delivery and client engagement across a portfolio of projects focused on:

  • Building Safety Act compliance projects
  • Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs)
  • Cladding remediation schemes
  • Façade replacement projects
  • Building safety upgrades
  • Refurbishment and remediation works

You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, compliantly and profitably whilst maintaining exceptional client service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Own operational planning, resourcing, scheduling and productivity across projects.
  • Manage and coordinate direct labour and subcontractor resources.
  • Drive programme milestones and project performance.
  • Lead defect resolution and project handovers.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and implement performance improvements.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Client & Contract Management

  • Act as the primary operational interface with clients.
  • Attend contract review, performance review and governance meetings.
  • Lead contract management activities under NEC4 contracts.
  • Manage scope changes and contractual variations.
  • Ensure operational compliance with all contractual obligations.

Building Safety & Compliance

  • Support the delivery of projects within the framework of the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Oversee works on Higher-Risk Buildings (7+ storeys).
  • Ensure robust management of building safety compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.

Team Management

  • Provide clear leadership and direction to the operations team.
  • Manage and develop direct reports.
  • Promote strong communication between project teams, clients and stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative and performance-focused culture.

Supply Chain Management

  • Manage subcontractor performance and compliance.
  • Ensure supply chain partners are appropriately vetted and monitored.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable to the same standards expected of direct employees.
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers and delivery partners.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven Operations Management experience within construction, remediation or specialist contracting.
  • Background working within a Tier 1 or highly structured contractor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts.
  • Experience delivering projects involving Building Safety legislation.
  • Experience managing Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).
  • Excellent planning, resource allocation and programme management capability.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of IT literacy and confidence using digital management systems.
