Contracts Manager - Fit Out & Joinery Greater Manchester (Office Based) Projects Across the North West & Occasional UK Travel £60,000 - £70,000 + Electric Company Car Private Healthcare (Bupa) + Pension ️ 20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + 3 Additional Days at Christmas The Opportunity An established and growing fit out and specialist joinery contractor is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join its senior management team. With an annual turnover of approximately £15 million, the business delivers high-quality refurbishment, fit out and joinery projects across a range of sectors including commercial, leisure, hospitality, retail, aviation and sports venues. Their client portfolio includes projects for major contractors and developers, working on prestigious schemes such as airports, hotels, football stadiums, high-end retail developments and large-scale mixed-use projects. This position has become available due to an upcoming retirement and offers the opportunity to take on a key leadership role within a stable and well-respected contractor. The Role As Contracts Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of 2-3 live projects simultaneously, managing programmes, budgets, quality standards and client relationships from pre-start through to completion. Projects are typically valued between £1m and £6m and are predominantly located throughout the North West, although occasional UK-wide travel may be required. Working closely with Site Managers, subcontractors, clients and the board of directors, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities Manage multiple fit out and specialist joinery projects concurrently. Oversee project delivery from initial mobilisation through to handover. Attend and lead client progress meetings. Support and manage Site Managers across various projects. Monitor project programmes, budgets and commercial performance. Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Liaise closely with Health & Safety teams to ensure full site compliance. Conduct regular site visits and progress reviews. Manage subcontractor performance and programme delivery. Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders. Provide project updates and forecasts to senior management and directors. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to specification. Candidate Requirements Essential Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within fit out, interiors or specialist joinery. Strong fit out and refurbishment background. Joinery background. CSCS Black Card. Experience managing projects valued up to £6m. Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills. Strong knowledge of construction health and safety legislation. Experience preparing and reviewing RAMS. Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously. Full UK Driving Licence. Must live within a commutable distance of the Greater Manchester office. Highly Desirable Experience working on projects within: Commercial Interiors Retail Fit Out Hotels & Hospitality Leisure Facilities Airports & Aviation Environments Football Stadiums & Sports Venues Candidates who have worked for recognised contractors such as Dawnvale, Medlock, Styles & Wood or similar specialist fit out and joinery businesses would be particularly of interest. A background working for both specialist subcontractors and main contractors would be advantageous. Working Environment Office-based role with regular site visits. Flexible working approach with autonomy to manage your own diary. Typically 40-50 hours per week. Predominantly North West projects with occasional nationwide travel. Managing and supporting a team of Site Managers across multiple locations.
