Overview

Our client is looking to appoint a motivated and commercially driven Quantity Surveyor at Project QS to Senior QS level to join their growing team based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of new build, extension, refurbishment, and fit‑out projects throughout Yorkshire and the East Midlands. The successful candidate will be hands‑on, proactive, and capable of managing projects independently while demonstrating strong commercial awareness and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial aspects of construction projects through to final account
  • Preparing cost plans, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Subcontract procurement and management
  • Cost reporting and forecasting
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and site teams
  • Supporting project delivery to ensure commercial targets are achieved
  • Conducting regular site visits (typically once per week)

Project Portfolio

The role will involve working across a range of projects including:

  • New build and extension schemes up to approximately £5M
  • Fit‑out and refurbishment projects up to approximately £2M
  • Office fit‑out project in the East Midlands
  • School refurbishment project in West Yorkshire

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
  • Background across both new build and refurbishment projects is essential
  • Fit‑out experience would be advantageous
  • Commercially aware with strong organisational skills
  • Driven individual who shows initiative and application
  • Ability to manage workloads independently and communicate effectively with project teams and clients

Working Arrangement

Office based in Leeds. Site travel required approximately once per week. No home working / fully office‑based role.

Package

£50,000 - £60,000 salary depending on experience. Permanent opportunity with long‑term progression potential. Freelance candidates will also be considered depending on experience and availability.
