Waste Recycling Operative

Waste Recycling Operatives for a busy recycling facility in Salford.
The role involves working on a sorting line, picking recyclable materials from a moving conveyor belt. Materials handled on site include:
- Plastic
- Metal
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Other recyclable materials
Please note that the site processes non-hazardous waste only . No hazardous, chemical, clinical, or asbestos waste is handled.
This is a hands-on role that involves standing for the majority of the shift and carrying out repetitive duties in a fast-paced recycling environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sorting recyclable materials from a moving conveyor belt
- Identifying and separating different waste streams
- Removing contamination from recyclable materials
- Maintaining quality standards throughout the sorting process
- Keeping work areas clean and tidy
- Assisting with general site housekeeping duties
- Following company health and safety procedures at all times
- Reporting any machinery faults, hazards, or safety concerns to supervisors
- Supporting other operational duties as required
- Candidate Requirements
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to work in a physically demanding environment
- Comfortable standing for long periods
- Able to carry out repetitive tasks throughout the working day
- Good attention to detail
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Previous experience within recycling, waste management, production, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments is advantageous but not essential
- PPE Requirements
The following PPE is mandatory
- Safety boots
- High-visibility vest or jacket
Additional PPE will be provided where required.
