Salary: Up to £45,000 + £5.7K Car Allowance + 10% Bonus

Working Arrangement: Hybrid Working

Hours: 40 hours per week

Our client, a growing Main Contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work, is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their Fire & Security division based in Oldham. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing QS who is a few years post-university, although candidates with less commercial experience but a strong Fire & Security background will also be considered. The business works with a range of blue-chip food retail clients and currently has a busy, expanding division with a supportive and collaborative team environment.

The Role

Working within a small commercial team, the successful candidate will support the financial and contractual management of projects from award through to final account. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and interpreting contract terms and conditions
  • Placing and managing subcontractor and supplier orders
  • Managing variations and valuing additional works
  • Completing and agreeing final accounts
  • Producing monthly commercial reporting and CVRs
  • Negotiating rates and variations with subcontractors
  • Identifying and managing commercial risk
  • Supporting value engineering exercises
  • Assisting with cost control and project profitability

Pre-construction responsibilities will be minimal, as the Project Managers undertake the estimating function.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be at Surveyor level with circa 2-4 years' post-graduate experience OR come from a Fire & Security background with transferable commercial experience
  • Have strong commercial awareness and communication skills
  • Be organised and capable of managing multiple projects/workstreams
  • Have experience administering contracts and managing subcontractors
  • Be keen to develop within a busy and growing division

The Team & Business

Small, close-knit commercial team with excellent support structure. Around 30 employees across the wider division, from administration through to Directors. Strong workload and long-term pipeline of projects. Hybrid working flexibility available.
