Overview:
Our client has a growing commercial team and is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is ready to step up in their career. This opportunity arises due to increased turnover and workload in a thriving business that specialises in fit‑out and refurbishment projects. The successful candidate will work across office, industrial, and public sector projects, with an emphasis on ensuring quality and cost efficiency from project inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre‑Construction:
- Carry out detailed take‑offs from scale drawings provided by the client or attend site to take measurements where possible.
- Prepare an itemised Bill of Quantities (BoQ) for the project, covering elements such as floor finishes, decoration, joinery, partitions, ceilings, and other materials required.
- Obtain cost estimates from relevant sub‑contractors for various packages and evaluate their quotations to ensure competitiveness and alignment with project budgets.
- Input sub‑contractor costs into the pricing document to be issued to the client.
- Procurement & Cost Management:
- Place orders for materials and sub‑contractors as required for the project.
- Ensure the procurement process aligns with the project\’s budget and timescale.
- Review and assess sub‑contractor quotations and ensure they are competitive.
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Manage and submit client applications for payment in line with agreed project milestones.
- Review and process sub‑contractor applications, issuing payment certificates accordingly.
- Assist in the overall financial monitoring and reporting of the project, ensuring that costs are managed effectively and project budgets are adhered to.
- Project Execution:
- Work closely with both the internal team and external partners to ensure the successful completion of projects on time and within budget.
- Provide assistance in managing project costs and resolve any issues that arise during the construction and fit‑out phases.
- Site & Office‑Based Work:
- Split time between office and site‑based tasks, depending on project requirements.
- Ensure on‑site measurements are accurate and represent the required scope of works as outlined in the project documentation.
Requirements:
- Experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within fit‑out or refurbishment projects.
- Experience working across office, industrial, or public sector fit‑out projects.
- Strong understanding of take‑offs, BoQs, and costing processes.
- Ability to evaluate sub‑contractor quotations and manage procurement processes.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, sub‑contractors, and project teams.
- Knowledge of contract management and project financials.
