  • Role Purpose

The Banksman is responsible for ensuring the safe movement of vehicles, plant, lifting equipment, and personnel on site.

The role requires effective communication with operators and site teams to maintain safe working practices and support project operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and guide vehicle and plant movements safely around the site.
  • Act as the designated Banksman for deliveries, loading, unloading, and manoeuvring operations.
  • Maintain clear communication with drivers, plant operators, and site management.
  • Ensure exclusion zones and pedestrian walkways are adhered to.
  • Monitor site activities and report any hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Assist with access equipment operations where required, in accordance with IPAF training and certification.
  • Carry out daily checks and ensure work areas remain safe and tidy.
  • Comply with all site health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in site briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Valid IPAF Licence.
  • Previous experience working as a Banksman/Traffic Marshal on construction or industrial sites.
  • Good understanding of site health and safety procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious approach to work.

Desirable Requirements

  • Traffic Marshal/Banksman qualification.
  • Experience working on warehouse, distribution centre, or commercial construction projects.
