The Opportunity

Our client, a leading main contractor, is looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to join their established team delivering a long-term MOD housing maintenance contract based in High Wycombe.

With five years remaining on the current contract , this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, high-performing commercial team and play a key role in the successful delivery of a major programme.

The client is also open to considering an ambitious

Senior Quantity Surveyor who is ready to step into their first Commercial Manager position and prove themselves.

This is a fast-paced commercial role focused on high-volume, low-value works across MOD housing, including voids, reactive maintenance and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial aspects of a busy MOD housing maintenance contract.
  • Oversee the commercial delivery of voids, responsive repairs, maintenance and reactive works.
  • Ensure projects remain compliant with MOD standards, contractual obligations and health & safety requirements.
  • Monitor costs, valuations and profitability across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Administer contracts, including variations, scope changes, client communications and claims management.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and commercially.
  • Produce accurate commercial reports and analyse data using Microsoft Excel.
  • Apply National Housing Federation (NHF) Schedule of Rates within commercial assessments and cost management.
  • Support the commercial team in maintaining financial performance and achieving contractual KPIs.

About You

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous commercial experience within a main contractor environment.
  • Experience working on social housing, housing maintenance, repairs, FM or property services contracts.
  • Strong understanding of NHF Schedule of Rates.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUPs.
  • Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management experience within high-volume, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical and organisational skills.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with both operational teams and clients.
