Our client, a well-established Main Contractor based in Stockport, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and reliable "safe pair of hands" who can quickly integrate into the business and operate with minimal supervision or training.
The company specialises in fit-out projects across the education and commercial sectors, delivering high-quality environments including schools, science laboratories, food technology rooms, and commercial laboratory spaces. Projects typically range from £30k to £1m in value, with a healthy and consistent pipeline of work generated through ongoing enquiries and repeat business.
As Estimator, you will be responsible for managing and preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for a variety of fit-out projects. The role is predominantly office-based with hybrid flexibility following a bedding in period, alongside occasional site visits as required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, and the internal delivery team
- Identifying value engineering opportunities where appropriate
- Managing multiple enquiries and tender deadlines simultaneously
- Supporting handovers to the operations team following project award
The business receives approximately (Apply online only) enquiries annually, with peak activity during the summer period due to school refurbishment programmes. The team currently manages around 80 rooms/sites during the summer delivery window.
Candidate Requirements

Candidates from joinery manufacturers or specialist subcontractor environments will also be considered where there is strong transferable estimating experience.
