Job Purpose
An established hazardous waste treatment facility is seeking an experienced Process Plant Operative to join its Special Treatment and Recovery team. The site operates a variety of chemical processes focused on the treatment and recovery of hazardous materials, including acids, alkalis, oxidisers, and oily waters. This hands-on role involves operating manual and semi-manual systems, as well as managing bulk liquid transfers via site tankers.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and prepare operating equipment for daily processing tasks
- Follow detailed operating instructions for vessel charging, safe systems of work, and liquid transfer operations
- Handle and process reactive chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and oxidisers
- Monitor and control chemical reaction parameters to ensure safe and effective treatment
- Collect process samples, request laboratory analysis, and interpret results to determine reaction endpoints
- Perform shutdown procedures and clean plant machinery as required
- Report any issues with production processes or equipment to site management and maintenance teams
Essential Requirements
- Valid Forklift Truck licence
- Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English
