An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction contractor and play a key role in supporting project delivery across a diverse portfolio of work.
We're open to speaking with candidates who already have Quantity Surveying experience and are looking for a new challenge, as well as ambitious junior QS professionals who are ready to develop into a fully independent commercial professional.
This role will offer exposure to both the commercial and operational aspects of project delivery, providing a fantastic platform for long-term career development.
The Role
Working closely with the Contracts Manager and wider project team, you will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of projects from pre-start through to final account.
You'll gain valuable hands-on experience across procurement, subcontractor management, cost control, financial reporting, and project support, helping to ensure projects are delivered profitably and successfully.
For candidates earlier in their career, the goal is to develop you into a fully autonomous Quantity Surveyor capable of managing projects independently.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Management
- Manage project costs, budgets, valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Monitor project profitability and identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Support financial control throughout the project lifecycle
- Produce accurate commercial reports and forecasts
Procurement & Supply Chain Management
- Obtain and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
- Place orders and manage procurement activities
- Administer subcontractor accounts and payments
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
Cost Control & Project Support
- Track costs against project budgets
- Manage and agree variations
- Support site teams and Contracts Managers with commercial decision-making
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget and achieve commercial targets
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous Quantity Surveying experience within construction, fit-out, refurbishment, or related sectors
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project finances
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
- A proactive and professional approach to work
