Senior Quantity Surveyor
Chadderton | £55,000 - £63,000 + £5,700 / Company Car + 10% Bonus
Take ownership of a £40m business unit with major retail clients and a clear route to make an impact from day one.
If you're a Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys the commercial side of projects without being buried in heavy pre-construction work, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
We're recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a thriving Fire & Security division based in Chadderton. With a strong order book, an established client base including some of the UK's best-known retail brands, and the ability to interview and appoint immediately, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior commercial position within a growing and highly supportive team.
The division delivers Fire & Security installation projects for major retail clients including Asda, Co-op, Sainsbury's and M&S, generating around £40m turnover as part of a wider £200m group.
The Opportunity
You'll take the lead on the commercial management of projects from contract award through to final account, ensuring profitability is maximised through effective cost control, contract management, variation recovery and cash collection.
Unlike many QS roles, estimating and the majority of pre-construction activities are handled by the Project Management team, allowing you to focus on what you do best - commercial delivery and project profitability.
You'll also play a key role in mentoring and supporting a small commercial team, helping to drive best practice, consistency and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of Fire & Security installation projects.
- Review contract terms, risks and commercial obligations.
- Ensure projects are correctly set up commercially following award.
- Place and manage subcontractor and supplier orders.
- Identify, price, submit and agree variations.
- Maximise recovery of additional works alongside operational teams.
- Maintain accurate commercial and contractual records.
- Lead final account preparation and agreement.
- Support debt recovery and maintain strong cash flow.
- Produce monthly commercial reports covering profitability, risks, opportunities and forecasts.
- Improve commercial systems, controls and reporting processes.
