Following an exceptional year and with turnover set to more than double, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager / Contracts Manager to play a key role in the next phase of the company's development. This is a genuine opportunity to become the business's second-in-command, working closely with senior leadership to drive operational excellence and continued growth.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical, Plumbing, Pipefitting, or M&E professional who has successfully progressed from a hands-on engineering background into a management or supervisory position.

As the operational lead for the company's engineering teams, you will oversee project delivery, coordinate resources, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

This role offers the chance to make a significant impact within a growing business while enjoying long-term career progression into senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary operational contact for site-based plumbers and pipefitters
  • Manage and support engineering teams across multiple projects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate labour, materials, tools, and plant requirements
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
  • Monitor site performance and provide technical support where required
  • Support business growth strategies alongside senior management
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety across all projects
  • Manage procurement of tools, equipment, materials, and parts
  • Oversee project delivery across healthcare, care home, and commercial environments

About YouEssential Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Operations Manager, Contracts Manager, Supervisor, or Senior Management position
  • Strong background within Plumbing, Pipefitting, Mechanical Services, or M&E contracting
  • Hands-on trade experience with progression into management
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical systems, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • Experience delivering care home, healthcare, or commercial sector projects
  • Contracts management or project delivery experience
  • Mechanical or M&E qualifications
  • Experience managing direct labour and subcontractor teams
