We are working on behalf of a leading road haulage company in Ipswich specialising in general haulage who are looking to appoint an experienced Fleet and Compliance Director to oversee the management of their vehicle fleet ensuring that all operations meet regulatory, safety, and environmental standards. The role comes with the responsibility of being the main CPC holder on the O licence supported by the Fleet team members, as well as the responsibility of managing the compliance of the business at all times. Duties within the role include; * Laws relating to the driving and operation of vehicles used under the operating licence and the rules on driver’s hours and Tachographs are observed, and proper records are kept and that they are stored, also that records are readily available on request. * Ensure vehicles and trailers are not overloaded and operate within speed limits, to ensure drivers promptly report any defects and are recorded in writing. * Ensure all vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers are kept in a fit and serviceable condition. * Ensure continued compliance and audit work for FORS Silver accreditation and also the BRC standard and FIAS standard and prepare the company for renewal audits. * Management of the team around you ensuring that individuals work is carried out to ensure that their specific work is done in a timely manner and to the highest standards. * Ensure all drivers have the required training & CPC and monitor driving licences and all records maintained. * Check and approve supplier invoices. * Negotiate fuel prices each week with suppliers and advise the drivers as needed, Compile fuel reports each month and compile reports to support the accounts department. * Write and review all company policies, Health and safety documents relating to all aspects of the HGV fleet and drivers. * Keep insurance records up to date including adding & removing of vehicles, reporting and investigating collisions, ensure all vehicles have the correct and valid VED, Investigate, challenge PCN’s. * Carry out disciplinary action as required. * Approve driver’s hours and pay each week.
